Ignacio Lopez Tarso, a Mexican actor whose lengthy career spanned over 50 years, turned in one of his best performances in this 1964 film. Tarso plays a man crippled by poverty who takes in a fighting rooster that is in even worse shape than he is. With a large prize in sight, the man teams with a powerful gangster and the gangster's mistress, a singer who the poor protagonist falls for. This cockfighting classic is notable for the incredible talent involved in the writing team.
